Basic UNIX Commands

Publishing a web page on Peregrin

peregrin.jmu.edu

Peregrin is a Hewlett-Packard 9000/A-500 running HP-UX Unix. It is available for the use of all JMU students, faculty, and staff. This server is not the home for general JMU information, which can be found at: http://www.jmu.edu/. To access pages for a specific user, simply go to: http://peregrin.jmu.edu/~userid where userid is the JMU userid of the user you are looking for.

Any JMU student, faculty member, or staff member can obtain a peregrin account by requesting one by logging into the Accounts Portal and clicking on the Web and General Server Accounts link on the left, then choosing the Peregrin tab. Complete the online request and click submit. You will be notified by e-mail within 2 business days indicating your Peregrin account has been created.

Basic software found on peregrin:

  • gcc and HP ANSI C compiler (compiling tools)
  • perl
  • IRC client
